Behavioral Competency
Managing, supervising and conducting seafarer assessments competence following the provisions of
section A-I/6 of the STCW Code and TMSA 3/Element 3 and as per
IMO Model Course 1.30
Objectives
After the successfull completion of the course, participants will be able to perform on shore and on board assessments, and will be well-prepared to undertake all the responsibilities expected of assessors within their field of expertise.
It is recommended for the participants to have experience in senior management on board ships or office staff ashore performing at shore and on board assessments.
Program description
The way participants behave during the simulations is the starting point for training on:
- Human Factors Soft Skills
- Team transformation and consolidation
- Leadership and teamwork in stressful situations
- Soft Skills analysis and critical behavior based competencies
The simulations are designed to identify the existing degree of experience and augment it through the “real human factor”, enhancing:
- Experience
- Observation
- Analysis
- Modification – Transformation and
- Integration of authentic behaviors.
It’s all about effective personal and team behavior,
in real time.
This training is a fun but serious simulation activity that helps identify different behavioral patterns.
What you will get
Course materials
Laptops with simulator, Operation Manual, Task Manal 1 & 2, Notepad with transparent paper, Pencils, High Performance Teams Manual, The debrief Model manual.
With registration, a number of additional study resources are provided, amounting to approximately 4 additional hours of learning and training.
After completing the training, four (4) free one to one mentoring sessions are provided. The aim is to increase your knowledge, develop your skills and be supported to put that knowledge into action.

In order to preserve a safe and high quality learning environment, the number of participants for each course
is limited to six (6).

Spyros Kollas is retired from HAF CSAR. He is Mixed Gas Diving, Cave & Rebreather Diving Instructor and business owner with experience in team and crew resource management as well as in business excellence models, tools and programs.
